Everytime I think I've gotten one thing done and am excited about my accomplishment I realize I've just made a whole todo list of more to do—

So I’ve been a little addicted to the new Google Keep and have a whole bunch of to-do lists going on right now of all the stuff that I’ve got to get done. I’ve gotta call about my Mom’s surgery on Monday, after she’s been taken in, just to check that everything’s alright. I’ve got to work on The Blog Everyday Challenge, which I’ve hugely neglected and haven’t even looked at in over a month.
I’ve got a lot of blogging-related things that I’ve got to get done. I mean, 9 different notes that are all blogging related. It seems like a lot of work, especially when you consider that each of these to-do lists have at least 5 things on them that I need to accomplish… It feels very daunting and at first, I was inspired by all these to-do lists and now I’m just feeling a little boggled down. I also think it’s incredibly interesting that I use Keep rather religiously for just about everything, but never once used Google Tasks or any of the other task managers that I’ve downloaded…
I’ve spent the last two days in a very quiet state, my mind whirring with thoughts about just about everything. I’m still stuck on The Boyfriend’s unwillingness to compromise, so that’s been on my mind non-stop. I haven’t had even one second to have a discussion with him since there’s been no days off and when he gets home from work, all he wants to do is get on the games with his work buddies. Not only is he playing with some of them on the Xbox, now he’s also playing with them on Star Trek: Online. I guess it’s okay though, because I’m still trying to figure out what exactly I plan to say, which I’m at an absolute loss for words. I don’t even know how to broach the subject or what to say once I broach it. I can’t make him enjoy something that he doesn’t and I’m not the type to give ultimatums, so it’s a little hard to find the words.
I worked a little bit on some of my #NerdyJourney stuff, new photos have been added to my Random Minecraft photo album on Facebook and I’ve even started a new survival mode one that I’m actually enjoying playing. Today, The Boyfriend is planning to bring me home The Sims 3. I seriously love this game so much, but I haven’t gotten to play it much. We’ve bought it (this will be) 5 times now and every single time, the kids end up scratching the crap out of the disc before I can even really start playing it. This time, it’s not going down. We said that last time too, but the kids ended up discovering our hiding spot…
The kids have a week off school, which I’ve been arguing with myself whether I enjoy the concept or not. On Thursday, their last day of school, I felt incredibly excited about this week off and just as the weather was warming up, it couldn’t have hit at a better time. But yesterday, it was a relatively rough day with them, lots of fighting between the boys and tons of whining about video games, I decided I was no longer looking forward to this week off. The feeling keeps coming and going in waves today, based on how their behaving. Right now, they’re all laying quietly watching Spongebob together and so it’s a moment of excitement about this calm and quiet week off. I’m sure once this over, they’ll all start acting up, asking questions, whining about not getting their way, whatever it may be, and it will be another moment of hating this week off…
Other than that, it’s been pretty boring around here and not much has really happened. No plans for Easter either. How’s your Easter weekend going?
Another one of those things that has been on my to do list for WAY too long. While I make small strides towards this goal every week, it never gets anywhere closer to getting done. I’d like to change that.
I would really love to pull all the appliances out and clean behind them. I want to scrub the walls behind the stove and scour the floor beneath the fridge. Then I want to clean inside the appliances. I see this being a total gong show!
My oven is going to be the worst. That thing is so disgusting, and I’ve never had the opportunity to clean it out in my 3+ years of living here. It desperately longs to have a good clean. I want that oven to shine as if my old oven were new.
I want to pull all of the dishes and crap out of all the drawers and cupboards and completely clean those up and out. All the junk and stuff we don’t use at all (like martini ice strainers?!?) can be given away or thrown out. I’d like to pare down to what we actually use and then start saving up to buy myself things that I really really want, like a stand up mixer or a waffle iron.
I’d like to get all of the dishes completely cleaned and done. While I do dishes almost every night, there are always some left over in the sink or one that we didn’t know about out in the living room or some other thing like that. I’d like to have every single dish in my house completely cleaned and preferably put away.
I’d love to scrub all the walls down and get the table and chairs so clean that they shine. I’d like to get all the worst stains off the kitchen floor and I’d love to get this black shelf thing that we have out there, either thrown out or cleaned up so that we can use it for something.
Then, I’d like to keep the kitchen cleaned and organized. Make it a welcoming place for me to cook our family meals in, instead of a hostile environment that I tend to avoid like the plague. I’d like to get it set up enough that if one day I felt like baking with the kids, we could without having to dedicate 2 or 3 hours to cleaning up beforehand…
So today, I was reintroduced to the Day Zero Project. If you’ve ever wanted to make a bucket list or just a things-I-want-to-do list, the Day Zero Project will let you define 101 tasks to complete in 1001 days. You can even make a list for someday tasks, things you’d like to do some day, just not right now. I thought it would be fun to share some of the things on my list and how I plan to achieve them and I’ll update you when I do. (We’ll try to do one of these posts a day… *cross your fingers*)
I haven’t yet decided how I want to go about doing this, but it’s been on my list of things to do for as long as I’ve known that women can shape their eyebrows.
When I was about 14 and was taking modeling classes, we had an entire class on how to pluck your eyebrows in a way that was flattering to your face shape. They gave us each our own little orange sticks and we all got tweezers. I, however, had absolutely no interest in doing anything to my eyebrows at the time, especially if it was going to hurt, so instead sat there pretending to be reading the papers they gave us and got out of having to do anything mean to my eyebrows.
I’ve also seen some pretty wicked eyebrow shaping disasters in my time. From the over-plucked and uneven eyebrows to the “Oops, I waxed a bigger chunk off than I intended” eyebrows to the eyebrow shaping’s where the person looks like they’re constantly questioning everything you say!
I also don’t generally tend to think too much about my eyebrows unless I’m wearing makeup or have somebody take a picture of me where my eyebrows are almost completely invisible. Both things that don’t happen all too often. But when they do….
Now it’s just a matter of deciding how I want to have these babies shaped and where I want to go to have it done. Also have to take into account how much I want to pay for it. For a long time I had only considered plucking and waxing as options, though have recently begun to entertain the idea of threading.
I would really like to maintain whatever shape I end up getting with my eyebrows, assuming I like it and I would like to learn how to more accurately use an eyebrow pencil, because I think my eyebrows would look awesome. Maybe maintained eyebrows is exactly what I need to start looking like the woman I want to look like.
And don’t ask me what the woman I want to look like, looks like. Because I’m not 100% sure, it seems to always be evolving. The biggest thing is that she looks well put together, which I certainly do not on most days.
So ladies, have you ever got your eyebrows shaped? What was it like and how did you do it? Have you ever tried multiple methods? If yes, which one was most preferable? Any advice you’d give to someone considering shaping their eyebrows would be amazing!
I have been having the hardest time this last week with my brain. We’ve been fighting all the time and I swear it’s making me lose a few IQ points. If I could remove it, without any pain, I probably would because I’m starting to get annoyed with it now.
It started with doing a minor re-design of Lifestyle Bloggers Anonymous. That was the thing that made all this happen. I worked my butt off on it for 2 days straight and finally completed it and was all proud of myself for getting so much accomplished.
Of course, when it comes to this blogging life of mine, checking off 2 or 3 things from your to do list, only adds about 2 or 3 more things that eventually need to get done. I’m not good with goals of any kind, seriously! I keep coming up with things that I want to do and how I want to do them, and then it comes time to get them done and I just can’t.
I’ve spent the last 2 days, mostly just staring at my computer screen. Attempting to loosen up this extreme mental blockage I’ve got going on. I’m having no problem coming up with ideas, pages and pages of ideas, it’s implementing them that has become a problem.
I hate times like this the most for what they do to my creative self-esteem. Most of the time, I consider myself to be a very creative person. Maybe not as creative as some people, but pretty darn creative. But when these mental farts come sneaking up on me, I start doubting how creative I actually am. And that probably gives me the most hassle, that doubt.
I’ve tried a few different things to get me out of the rut that I’m in, but none of it seems to be working. From doodling, which normally does me really good, to going for walks and reading tons of other blogs. But it just doesn’t get my mental juices flowing enough to do more than come up with ideas. Hopefully that will change and hopefully it’ll change soon.
I should start tracking when these mental blockages begin happening, that way I can plan my schedule accordingly. Like if I knew that the 3rd Tuesday of every month was going to be a brain-bunged-up kind of day, then I make where that day I had a post scheduled to go out or something… A back up plan.
So, to anyone else who might read my blog and writes their own blog, what do you do when you’re trying to get over writer’s block? What are some of the things that you have tried to unblock yourself? Do you have a pattern of productivity vs. slacker-ville?
